After
Chat Noir by Théophile Steinlen. (1896)
Thought to be the first modern cabaret located in the bohemian Montmartre district of Paris. In 1896 Steinlen produced this poster to advertise Le Chat Noir Cabaret. If you are ever lucky enough to travel to Paris, you cannot escape the omnipresent Black Cat poster, it is sold in every format from umbrellas to postcards, posters to notebooks. An original is on display in the Montmartre Museum, an advertisement poster and now perhaps one of the most iconic Parisian images.
I adapted the image as an environmental statement about our need to eliminate not just possums but all introduced pest species for the good of our native flora and fauna.
